Project Detail
The NSW Government’s Parks for People Program was a $50m initiative to create new and improved open spaces across seven Local Government Areas across Greater Sydney. The seven completed parks include:
- Tench Reserve (Penrith) – 11ha riverside precinct upgrade with new playground, amphitheatre, wharf, and cultural garden (2024 AILA Award Winner).
- Beaumont Hills Park (The Hills) – First public open space in NSW delivered beneath the Sydney Metro Northwest viaduct, including skatepark, pump track, and multi-use courts.
- George Kendall Riverside Park (Parramatta) – $10m upgrade of a capped landfill site featuring dog parks, wetlands, fitness stations, and hilltop lookout.
- Carrawood Park (Fairfield) – Neighbourhood park renewal with bespoke “Big Bass” play equipment, water and nature play, and new picnic facilities.
- Nandi Reserve (Northern Beaches) – Extensive trail network with 10 new bridges and boardwalks, sandstone pathways, central nature play, and bushland restoration.
- Appin Park (Wollondilly) – District-scale recreation space featuring bespoke play structures, boardwalks, water play, and new amenities block.
- Leppington Park (Liverpool) – Local community park with open lawn areas, sports and play facilities, and links to future transport and residential development.
Our Role
Benaiah was engaged to provide specialist program management, project management and construction superintendency services for the entire Portfolio. Together, these projects showcase Benaiah’s capability to deliver open spaces of every scale, while overcoming challenges such as landfill remediation, heritage constraints, flood resilience and working beneath critical infrastructure. The program has delivered safe, inclusive and resilient places that enhance community wellbeing, celebrate local character, and provide lasting amenity for their communities.
By balancing State priorities, Council requirements and community aspirations, Benaiah ensured that each park was designed to serve as a benchmark for future State-led public open space investment across Greater Sydney.
